Loudoun County, VA (April 22, 2024): On Saturday, April 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration will host DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at locations across the country. DEA and its partners, including the Middleburg Police Department locally, will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs.
Loudoun County residents can discard potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unneeded medications anonymously and with no questions asked, at the following locations:
- LCSO Ashburn Station - 20272 Savin Hill Drive, Ashburn
- LCSO Dulles South Public Safety Center - 25216 Loudoun County Parkway, South Riding
- LCSO Eastern Loudoun Sheriff’s Station - 46620 East Frederick Drive, Sterling
- LCSO Western Loudoun Station - 47 W. Loudoun Street, Round Hill
- Middleburg Police Department – 107 W. Federal Street, Middleburg
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, medical samples, pet medications, vape pens/e-cigarettes (battery must be removed).
NON-ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: illicit drugs, syringes, sharps, needles, epi-pens, thermometers, batteries, IV bags, blood or infectious waste, liquids, gels, or sprays.
Since the inception of the DEA take-back program in 2010, over 18,000 pounds of unwanted and unused prescription medications have been collected in Loudoun County.
In partnership with local law enforcement, Take Back Day has removed 8,950 tons of medication from circulation since its inception.
