Loudoun County, VA (November 6, 2023) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your assistance. Please help make this holiday season bright for children at local hospitals by donating to LCSO’s Holiday Toy Drive!
For the eighth year in a row and over 14,000 toys later, the Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Cole's Closet, a nonprofit organization to help collect toys to fill “closets” for children while they are at the hospital during the holidays.
Cole’s Closet was created in 2002 by Ellen and Steve Tomczyk after they lost their six-month-old son to an undiagnosed brain disease. The Tomczyk's spent four months in and out of area hospitals where they experienced firsthand the anxiety and fear families face when a child is hospitalized. Ellen and Steve began a toy drive at a family holiday party one year after Cole passed. For more information about Cole’s Closet please visit www.colescloset.org.
The LCSO is asking community members to donate new, unwrapped toys to bring holiday cheer to children ages infant to the age of 17. Donations will be accepted until December 18, 2023, and the toys can be dropped off at any LCSO Station, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
