Loudoun County, VA (July 28, 2023) – The pedestrian who died in yesterday’s crash has been identified as Shawn M. Potter, 44, of Chantilly.
A preliminary investigation determined the pedestrian was crossing John Mosby Highway near Pleasant Valley Road in Chantilly when he was struck by a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck stayed on the scene after the crash, and no charges have been filed against the driver at this time.

Loudoun County, VA (July 27, 2023) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Chantilly.
This morning at approximately 5:46, deputies responded to the area of John Mosby Highway (Rt. 50) and Pleasant Valley Road in Chantilly for a report of a pedestrian struck. The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on the scene and this crash remains under investigation.
At this time, the name of the pedestrian is not being released, pending next of kin notification. Additional information will be provided as appropriate.
