Master Deputy Thomas P. Alpy Receives Certification as Motorcycle Instructor
Loudoun County, VA – Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Master Deputy Thomas P. Alpy received his certification as an approved motorcycle instructor. Alpy, a member of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit, successfully completed the instructor course on May 18th.
The training included off-road/adverse terrain, advanced riding skills, surmounting obstacles, defensive riding skills, high speed curve negotiations and instructor training.
“The certification will allow the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Unit to conduct in-house training and will increase the proficiency of our motor unit,” said Major John Fraga of the Operational Support Division. The motor unit currently consists of six members and one sergeant. Alpy is the third current member of the unit to receive the instructor certification.
The three week session was held at the University of Maryland Department of Public Safety training facility in College Park, MD and is approved by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission.
Alpy joined the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in 1997 as a deputy assigned to patrol in the Field Operations Division. He is a five year veteran of the motor unit.
