Loudoun County, VA (December 16, 2019): The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office welcomed eight new recruits to the agency during the 141st session of the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy’s (NVCJA) graduation ceremonies today.
The new deputies are Daniel Butcher, Andrew Cavo, Brandon Dean, Mitchell Dively, Tyler Giles, Brandon Haynes, James Perry and Phi Pham.
Several members of the class were recognized today for their skills and physical fitness. Deputy Dean received the Firearms Award with an impressive 99.77% combined score of various daytime and low-light shooting courses. Deputy Dean also received the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) Award with a final score of 96.50%. Deputy Haynes received the Defensive Tactics Award. Deputy Pham, who had the second highest academic score in the class, also received the Top Physical Fitness Award. His accomplishments included 104 pushups, 28 pulls ups, and a 4:08 plank hold.
“We continue to attract highly qualified applicants who recognize the Loudoun Sheriff’s Office as a premier law enforcement agency,” said Loudoun Sheriff Mike Chapman. After the ceremony Sheriff Chapman congratulated the graduates and expressed his pride in their accomplishments during the session.
The 24-week program for deputy sheriffs and police officers from the Northern Virginia area covered every phase of law enforcement principles and procedures. Participating agencies include Arlington County Police Department, Arlington County Sheriff’s Office, City of Alexandria Police Department, City of Alexandria Office of the Sheriff, City of Fairfax Police Department, City of Falls Church Police Department, City of Falls Church Office of the Sheriff, City of Manassas Police Department, City of Manassas Park Police Department, George Mason University Police Department, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Metro Transit Police Department, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police, Northern Virginia Community College Police Department, Town of Leesburg Police Department, Town of Middleburg Police Department, Town of Purcellville Police Department.
