Loudoun County, VA – Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman was named Vice President of Homeland Security for the Major County Sheriffs of America (MCSA), a professional law enforcement association comprised of almost 100 sheriff agencies in the nation’s most populous counties and parishes.

Sheriff Chapman was sworn-in February 14 after he was selected by his MCSA colleagues to a two-year position. As Homeland Security Vice President, he will oversee the MCSA Intelligence Commanders Group.

“It was an honor today to be selected as Vice President of Homeland Security for the Major County Sheriffs of America,” said Sheriff Chapman.  “MCSA has a powerful voice when it comes to influencing national policy that ensures the safety for our citizens.  Protecting our homeland is a top priority and I look forward to contributing to this Executive Board position,” he added.

MCSA works to promote a greater understanding of law enforcement strategies to address future problems and identify law enforcement challenges. The association is committed to advancing legislative issues that will enhance the safety of our communities while protecting our law enforcement officers.

Sheriff Chapman first took office in 2012 in Loudoun County and was re-elected in 2015. He oversees the largest Sheriff’s Office in the Commonwealth of Virginia which handles countywide law enforcement, the adult detention center, and courts.

He previously served on the Virginia Governor’s School and Campus Safety Task Force, and as Co-Chair of the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) Homeland Security Committee, MCSA and NSA Legislative and Congressional Committees, and the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association’s Legislative Committee.
